BP’s Top Kill failed and now they are going to cut the riser pipe and it may increase the flow of oil escaping into the Gulf Of Mexico by 20%.. That’s an increase of up to 3,800 barrels (160,000 gallons) a day.
The plan involves cutting the broken riser pipe which used to send oil up to the drilling platform that burned and sank. Experts are now saying this would increase the oil flow as much as 20%. BP is saying it would be a “temporary increase” but nothing BP has said about their efforts to stem the flow has tuned out to be the truth so far.
It was revealed in Sunday’s talk shows that BP can’t really be trusted. The government fine which will be eventually assessed to BP for the Oil Spill will be based on the number of gallons of oil allowed to inter gulf waters. This appears to be a possible motive for their oil flow estimates of 5,000 barrels a day, instead of the more accurate 12 to 19,000 barrels a day independent experts have determined, according to what many people are thinking.
